St. Mary Magdalen Church Expansion March 14, 2004 BUILDING
GOD’S HOUSE IN OUR TIME The Capital Campaign Team is very excited to
begin to make the dream of the new Church a reality. Our team is
dedicated to helping building God’s house in our time. The initial
pacesetters phase is seeking a group of parishioners to pledge their
support of this wonderful project. We are looking forward to working with
everyone and want you to know that all prayers, pledges and symbols of
support will be tremendously appreciated. Each of you is cordially
invited to work with us at any phase in any way that you are able. Together our entire parish family can build
the spiritual foundation to meet the needs of our rapidly growing
family. On
Sunday, March 28th, a wine and hors d’oeuvre event has been
scheduled for (1:30 to 3:30) at the Rose Tree Inn.
We are praying that anyone who might be in a position to help us
with a pace setting commitment will attend to hear our plans.
Please stop by the Rectory, or contact one of our campaign chairs
– Chuck and Jackie Aman (610) 627-5551, or Bill and Jean Cotter
(610) 565-3563, and I will send you an invitation.
There will be no solicitation at the event. Please know that we will appreciate each commitment which is made; our
prayer is that each family will make the level gift which makes them
feel good. You can become a
pacesetter by making a pledge in any amount so that we can move the
project forward. We are blessed with more good news.
A number of our families, anxious to see us substantially exceed
our goal, have gotten together, pooled their pledges, and offered a
challenge to all of us. They
have collectively committed $1,000,000 to the campaign – a stretch for
each, and ask that as many other parishioners as possible help meet this
challenge by also making ‘stretch’ commitments.
They will match dollar for dollar – any family who commits
$10,000 or more, and they will match 2 for 1 all pledges of $25,000 and
higher. The $1,000,000
challenge is part of the $1.6 million I already announced as committed
at all the masses; this reflects my confidence that the challenge
portion will be met. Please remember that this does not mean that
we have approval by the Archdiocese or Township, but we are continuing
to seek approval with our ongoing investigation and fundraising.
The process is lengthy and ultimately relies on the generosity of
our parish family to raise at least $3 million dollars in cash to
initiate the actual building. On February 24th, we had a
meeting with the Upper Providence Planning Board and on March 3rd
with the Archdiocesan Capital Projects Team.
I realized more each day how blessed we as a
parish have been with all we have been given.
We all stand on the shoulders of those who went before us.
Now is our time to continue to develop for ourselves, and those
who follow, the continuing dream for St. Mary Magdalen Parish.
A dream begins to become a reality when it is shared.
I ask each of you to pray for the success of
this important event, for all our plans, and especially for those
members of the campaign committee who have been working feverishly
toward helping us realize these exciting plans. The Parish Family and I
are grateful to all who have given of their hearts and hands and invite
you to join us. The
following parishioners are already serving on the Capital Campaign Team. St.
