GOD’S HOUSE IN OUR TIME During the past few years, it became increasingly clear that a new church and expanding meeting/administrative space is a priority for our families. As we embarked on the process to validate both the need and the dream, I realized more each day how blessed we as a parish have been with all we have been given. We all stand on the shoulders of those who went before us. Now is our time to continue to develop for ourselves, and those who follow, the continuing dream for St. Mary Magdalen Parish. A dream begins to become a reality when it is shared. Following our many meetings, planning sessions, a Feasibility Study and Parish Meeting, I am happy to officially announce our plans to move ahead with realizing our dream. The Archdiocese has permitted us to begin our Capital Campaign. The cost for both the new church and the lower level meeting and administrative area is estimated to be $6.0 million. To pay for this, we will be seeking a minimum of $2.5 million, to help fund this amount. Your own generosity provides us great confidence and leads us to believe we will raise much more and substantially reduce the amount of any borrowed funds. We are blessed with more good news. A number of our families, anxious to see us substantially exceed our goal, have gotten together, pooled their pledges, and offered a challenge to all of us. They have collectively committed $1,000,000 to the campaign – a stretch for each, and ask that as many other parishioners as possible help meet this challenge by also making ‘stretch’ commitments. They will match dollar for dollar – any family who commits $10,000 or more, and they will match 2 for 1 all pledges of $25,000 and higher. The $1,000,000 challenge is part of the $1.6 million I already announced as committed; this reflects my confidence that the challenge portion will be met. On
Sunday, March 28th, a wine and hors d’oeuvre event had been
scheduled for ( I ask each of you to pray for the success of this important event, for all our plans, and especially for those members of the campaign committee who have been working feverishly toward helping us realize these exciting plans. Please know that we will appreciate each commitment which is made; our prayer is that each family will make the level gift which makes them feel good. The Parish Family and I are grateful to all who have given of their hearts and hands and invite you to join them. St. Mary Magdalen Pray for Us! The Capital Campaign Team is very excited to begin to make the dream of the new Church a reality. Our team is dedicated to helping building God’s house in our time. The initial pacesetters phase is seeking a group of parishioners to pledge their support of this wonderful project. We are looking forward to working with everyone and want you to know that all prayers, pledges and symbols of support will be tremendously appreciated.
