BUILDING GOD’S HOUSE IN OUR TIME

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN UPDATE

Fr. Gerald Carey, Director of the Office of Worship, informed me this week that Cardinal Rigali personally reviewed our architectural plans prepared by Bill Murphy and our Building Committee.  He was very much impressed and approved the plans with the following points:

1. The tabernacle must be in the center behind the altar and no other tabernacle in the church or chapel is permitted. 2. A statue must be dedicated to the Blessed Mother.  3. The Cardinal complimented us for having Perpetual Adoration. He reminded us that since adoration flows from the Mass, there is no adoration during the daily mass.  4.  There is a single celebrant’s chair on the altar.  5. The Baptismal Font does not have to have an immersion pool.  6.  A family-cry room is permitted. 7.  He made other liturgical and logistic recommendations.

Our Vicar, Msgr. John Breslin, the Office of Worship, the Archdiocesan Building Committee, and the Office for Financial Services made a favorable recommendation for our project that will now be reviewed by the College of Consultors. The Upper Providence Zoning Board is presently reviewing our request for variances for steep slopes and dual parking.

We ask your continued prayers and support as we continue to investigate building God’s House in Our Time.
