St. Mary Magdalen Church Expansion July 10, 2005 BUILDING
GOD’S HOUSE IN OUR TIME
CAPITAL CAMPAIGN UPDATE Our Finance Committee and Pastoral Council met this past week and I informed them that the total cost of Building God’s House in Our Time has reached an estimated cost of $8.2 million. After a hearty discussion, the parish leaders recommended that we continue Building God’s House in our Time, since it will not jeopardize the continued commitment to our school and PREP programs.
We have added 40 new parking spaces in front of the church on Providence Rd. and needed storm management required by the township. The good news is that due to your contribution to the Capital Campaign and increasing parish contributions, we believe that within 8 to 10 years, we will be debt free. The Archdiocese is committed to a $3 million dollar loan for the project and is willing to do more to guarantee the financial support of the entire parish mission.
Our Endowment Fund for the religious education of our parishioners has reached $533,947.88. We thank all who donated to the fund for the religious education of all of our parish family. This year $25,000.00 from the fund helped us increase the salaries of our school, PREP, Youth Ministry, and speakers for Sacramental Saturday. We will be able to fund our school and PREP programs as well as make needed improvements as long as all of us work as a parish family and continue your generous spirit. The March Social will benefit the Endowment and capital improvements to the school such as air conditioning and replacing doors.
We hope to go to bids sometime in the fall. If anyone is interested in bidding or becoming a sub contractor, contact Tony Antonello at the rectory.
We ask you to prayerfully consider how you can participate in Building God’s House so that just as our pioneers offered us a place of worship, so we can provide a larger worship area for our growing parish family.
Please pray as I negotiate with the Archdiocese in purchasing the stained glass windows from St. Aloysius Parish. Anyone desiring to donate towards these precious treasures in memory of a loved one or your family, please call the rectory. All money donated for these windows and the monstrance from King of Peace will go to St. Gabriel Parish in Graysferry section of Philadephia.
We are very grateful to Eleanor Rostien who donated the Monstrance from King of Peace Parish, Philadelphia in Memory of her late husband, Robert R. Rostien
