#3 The Law
The
initial precepts of the Jewish law, represented by the two stone tablets, were
given to Moses on the heights of Mt. Sinai. The theopany is portrayed by
flashes of lighting and clouds of fire, in the midst of which we have the
tablets of the law being presented to Moses. The wandering of the Jews
after their escape from Egypt is intimated by the tents; the fickleness of
their devotion to Yahweh by the golden calf in the lower right half of the
window.
