The small windows (VI, VII, XII, & XIII) are located over the four side doors.  We have the symbols of the four gospels.  These symbols were first used by Ezechiel and later by John in the Apocalypse to stand for the throne to God's glory.

Matthew begins his account with the geneology of Christ and for that reason the man is a symbol of his gospel.
